Decating – Ekofast & Batch

Setting cloth so it stays exactly as it should, long after it leaves us

The Ekofast – The machine at the heart of nearly everything we finish.

We work with many of the world’s leading designers and tailors, who demand that their fabrics remain stable and never shrink during garment making. The Ekofast, a hundred-year-old idea, still unmatched. It combines intense heat – around 135°C – with continuous heavy pressing in a single process, stabilising cloth and giving it a handle that’s genuinely difficult to achieve any other way. It’s one of the least glamorous-looking machines in the building, and quite possibly the most important.

Core Benefits

Designed for stability, permanence and consistency.

  • Team member checking folded navy pinstripe cloth on the cutting table

    True Stabilisation

Continuous high-temperature exposure and pressing set the cloth permanently, so it holds its shape long after it leaves us.

  • Dark wool cloth roll lifted by an overhead hoist in the finishing mill

    A Handle You Can

The combination of heat and pressure creates a depth and softness of handle that’s become part of what defines our signature finishes.

  • Close-up of navy superfine mohair barathea cloth with a gold Huddersfield selvedge

    Proven Over Decades

The Ekofast has been shaping some of the world’s finest cloth since long before “permanence” was something customers thought to ask for.

Also part of decating: Batch Decating.

Not every order calls for the continuous Ekofast process. For high-volume production, our batch decating line, often in conjunction with the Ekofast process, delivers high-temperature setting with the batch-to-batch consistency that large runs demand – the fabric arrives at the cutting table exactly as stable as the piece before it, and the piece after.

Our Other Finishing Processes

Our finishing processes allow each textile to relax to its natural width, ensuring optimal hang and fold
