We’re a textile finisher based in West Yorkshire, specialising in the final stages of fabric production — the processes that transform woven or knitted cloth into a finished material ready for use. This includes milling, scouring, cropping, drying and decating, along with specialist and bespoke finishes developed for specific performance needs.

We work with mills, designers and fashion houses across the UK and internationally, from heritage textile producers to contemporary brands looking for specific technical or aesthetic outcomes.

Yes — we have particular expertise with noble fibres such as mohair, cashmere, vicuña and Escorial, which require a more careful, experienced approach than standard finishing processes allow.

We’re based in West Yorkshire, in the heart of a region with a long textile heritage. That history matters — it’s shaped generations of technical knowledge that we draw on every day.

Finishing is what gives fabric its final character — its handle, appearance, performance and durability. Two identical woven cloths can feel and perform completely differently depending on how they’re finished. It’s a stage that’s easy to overlook, but it’s often what separates an ordinary fabric from an exceptional one.

Our specialist finishes are branded, developed solutions built around specific performance attributes — durability, protection, comfort. Bespoke finishing is a closer, more collaborative process, where we work directly with a client from early in a project to develop something created specifically for their fabric and vision.

We’ve been finishing textiles since 1910, with four generations of the Johnson family leading the company through over a century of change in the industry — knowledge that’s been passed down, refined and applied ever since.

The earlier the better. The best results come from involving us at the start of a project, not once a fabric has already been finalised — get in touch to talk through what you’re trying to achieve.
